Step by step guide from Cancun, Mexico to Belize

1. Depart from Cancún
• Starting point: ADO Bus Terminal in downtown Cancún (Calle Pino near Avenida Tulum). Or the Cancun Airport
• Bus company: ADO
• Destination: Belize City.

2. Travel from Chetumal to the Mexico-Belize Border
Cross the Mexico–Belize Border
• At the Mexican side:
○ You may be asked to pay a Mexico exit fee of about 558 MXN (around $30 USD), depending on your stay. If you already paid it with your airline ticket, bring proof to avoid double payment.
○ You will need to surrender your FMM card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple) when leaving.
• At the Belize side:
○ Present your passport and complete a Belize immigration form.
○ You may be asked for:
– Proof of sufficient funds
– Proof of onward travel (e.g., return ticket)
– Accommodation address in Belize
3. Visa Requirements for Belize
• No visa required for passport holders from most countries, including the US, Canada, EU countries, UK, Australia, and others for stays up to 30 days.
• Visa required for some nationalities such as India, Nigeria, and China. Check Belize’s official immigration website before traveling.
• Entry fee: None on arrival, but there is an exit fee of around $20–30 BZD (~$10–15 USD) when leaving Belize by land.
Additional Tips
• Carry cash in Mexican pesos and US dollars or Belize dollars, especially for small vendors and taxis.
