How to Get to Belize from Europe, the USA, and Canada

Traveling to Belize is easier than ever, with multiple international routes connecting this Caribbean paradise to major cities across North America and Europe. Whether you’re planning a vacation, relocation, or investment trip, here’s everything you need to know about getting there smoothly.

Flying to Belize

The main international gateway is Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), located just outside Belize City. This airport handles most international arrivals and offers direct and connecting flights from several countries.

From the United States

Travelers from the U.S. have the most convenient access to Belize, with direct flights available from major hubs like Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Airlines such as American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines operate regular routes. Flight times typically range from 2 to 5 hours depending on your departure city.

From Canada

There are direct seasonal and year-round flights from cities like Toronto and Calgary to Belize. Canadian travelers often fly with Air Canada and WestJet. Flights usually take around 4 to 6 hours.

From Europe

There are currently no widely available direct flights from Europe to Belize, but getting there is still straightforward. Most European travelers connect through U.S. cities (such as Miami or Houston) or via Mexico, particularly Cancun. Major European airlines like British Airways, KLM, and Lufthansa can get you to North America, where you can connect to Belize.

Alternative Routes

Another popular route is flying into Cancun, Mexico, and then traveling overland or by short regional flight into Belize. This option can sometimes be more affordable and offers a chance to explore more of the region.

Entry Requirements

Most visitors from the USA, Canada, and Europe do not need a visa for short stays in Belize. A valid passport is required, and travelers are typically granted a 30-day stay upon arrival, which can be extended.

Getting Around Belize

Once you arrive, you can travel domestically via small regional flights, water taxis, rental cars, or buses. Local airlines offer quick connections to popular destinations like Ambergris Caye and Placencia.
